Depending on the stage of the disease, its location, and the patient's general health and age, the treatment for mesothelioma can very for each person. The most common treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

According to the national cancer society:

Standard treatment for all but localized mesothelioma is generally not curative. Although some patients will experience long-term survival with aggressive treatment approaches, it remains unclear if overall survival has been significantly altered by the different treatment modalities or by combinations of modalities. Extrapleural pneumonectomy in selected patients with early stage disease may improve recurrence-free survival, but its impact on overall survival is unknown.

Aside from the standard treatments listed above there are many other new and innovative procedures being utilized to help treat mesothelioma patients. As a mesothelioma attorney, I am in constant contact with numerous doctors and medical providers that treat patients affected by the deadly disease. Fast and effective treatment is crucial for anyone diagnosed with mesothelioma. For more inforation on these new and innocvative procedures give me a call or ask me a question. I will be happy to discuss them with you and/or put you intouch with the doctors conducting these cutting edge procedures.
